Update Alan Gets His Bird Click Here
We have had the Tom and 2 Jakes close for two days now, but he is quite content when the hens get with him.
At fly down we had this lone hen come in to our decoys.
She enjoyed peaking into our blind... more than playing with her look alike friends in the field!
The hen decides to investigate her new found friends!
She still kept her eye on us in the blind!
Then she worked her way along with the "plastic" flock feeding, putting and purring for a full 45 minutes.
The photo below is a enhanced flash photo.
Even when my camera flash went off two times in a row,
by mistake, she was not alarmed.
We let this live decoy do all the calling for us, but...
then the Tom arrived at about 75 yards away, and when he crested a stone wall, the hen changed her calling over to... "Here I am, and I'll be right their honey!"
She wasted no time making it to the big boy, and together they walked off clucking and gobbling into the sun...rise!

Another Maine spring season ends.
Congratulations all that got to go!

Let's hope Maine DIFW comes up to speed with our neighboring State of New Hampshire and opens a regular Spring Season for Turkey.
Maine has a lottery draw system that only allows for 9000 permits Statewide with 26,000 applicants a 1 out of 3 chance doesn't sound bad...until you don't get to go turkey hunting Maine a few years!

E-mail the State and let them know...
Maine hunters want an open season for all!!!
